O leopard, how I love thee!
clear

The leopard is back!

One of the best trends this fall is the leopard accent - I love it for two reasons!

1). You can wear it as a scarf, shoe, bag, shirt or even earrings...it will make you feel sassy and fun!

2). It's not REALLY a trend...it comes back every other season or so.  Investing in an awesome pair of leopard heels is a no brainer...You can wear them with your chocolates and your blacks.  They are an accent so you do NOT have to match them with your outift perfectly.

For instance...take a chocolate pair of slacks, pair it with a eggplant sweater or silky shirt and wear your leopard heels!  It is an accent and it makes your outfit pop!

Business cards - Image - Brand - Fashion

How do all of these items blend together?  I am often asked to help style headshots for corporate pictures and marketing materials along with business cards.  I love this part of my business because I am able use my marketing background along with my love of all things fashion and put it to good use!

(Picture on left is of real estate guru and agent Mimi Lukich - If you are even thinking about selling, buying or looking into investment property; she is the expert to call! Her phone number is, 615.712.3334 and click the picture on the left to be taken to her website! mimi.crye-leike.com!)

If I were to work with you on your corporate pictures, I would ask you these three questions first -

First: What does it mean when someone asks you what your brand is? Do you represent your brand well with your image alone?
Second: What are three words that describe your brand?
Third: How would you like people to describe you and perceive you when they see you - before you've ever said a word? (Maybe you would say intelligent, detail oriented, organized, diligent, successful, fun etc).  These are the words that describe YOUR brand.  It's not that complicated.

One picture can say all or none of those things - we live in a visual world and you may think that is unfair. It might be unfair, but it is true nontheless so make your image the best it can be! God made us all unique - your image should represent your uniqueness and who you are before you've ever said a word or extended your hand to introduce yourself to someone.  Your 'brand' should also be clear in your headshot.  When you meet a new client you don't have the time and often times the ability to share your resume, your past successes and how good you are at what you do - they have already judged you based upon your appearance alone and what it has said to them...all within THREE SECONDS.  DO YOU REPRESENT YOUR BRAND WELL? DOES YOUR PICTURE?

The picture above is of Mimi Lukich, who happens to be a very successful real estate agent.  She moved to Nashville from Northern California and needed a business card for her new partnership with Crye-Leike.  Her goal was to look approachable and warm (because she is both of those things), professional, successful and yes, even fun.  I chose a warm speckled brown background and peachy/red lips and a peach toned jeweled necklace...these colors accent not only her face, give her a warm glow, but also play off of the Crye-Leike logo which is a warm red...by mixing these together she looks crisp, professioanl and approachable...We extended the brown background to be the actual background for her card as well so the logos pop off of the card and differentiate her from the rest!

I would like to persoanlly recommmend her to anyone who is looking to invest in their future -whether it is investement property or a home, she will help turn your dream into a reality.  She has decades of experience and she cares more about her clients than any other realtor I've ever met.  Her advice is based upon what is best for her client, not her own pocketbook.  She is detail-oriented and direct, but her clients future is the most important aspect of her job - and she always gets the job done.

August 2010 Newsletter - The basics on bags
clear

This week on 'Talk of the Town' you will see a few of the basics you must have in your wardrobe.  One of those basics is a great bag.  It's the one piece you carry daily and you should consider it a great investment.  Your bag should help to define you and your personality.

Some days it is hard to look 'just right,' and a bag can help pull you out of a fashion disaster day.  If you are in the professional world, you might want to try a bag that is sturdy and doesn't collapse on a desk.  It looks pulled together, professional and chic - even with a professional bag, don't be afraid to play with color or material...Try a patent leather for some extra sass, or a brighter color - but remember, make sure your 'style' is professional especially when you play with other factors.

Your bag is your statement piece and shouldn't be nondescript.  Have some fun, but invest in something that is seasonless and fits the most needs.  A cute gold clutch is great but not on a daily basis, so don't spend your entire budget on it.  Choose wisely when picking a bag as it not only represents who you are, but carries some of your most important things!

Here are a few of my favorite basic bags...choose one that represents your personality, your lifestyle and YOUR FASHION!

Hinge® Perforated Leather Tote Juicy Couture 'Brogue - Duchess Small' Chain Trim Shopper Hinge® Textured Leather Hobo Cole Haan 'Avalon Denney' Snake Embossed ShopperTreesje 'Bare Revealed' Zip Top Metallic Satchel Furla 'Megumi' Vertical Leather Hobo Halogen® Python Embossed Leather Tote Hype 'Miriam' Leather Hobo

When looking for a bag think about colors that will go with most things...the right shade of python will get you through almost any occasion as you can dress it up or down - and with the multiple neutral shades of taupe, gray and cream you are set!  (don't be afraid of the pattern - it is an accent piece, so if you are wearing a bold pattern with this, it won't get in the way or detract from it)

Black is always a safe bet - but try choosing one that has a mixed material and maybe a few accents here and there...tassels and stones are always fun but don't go overboard with accents either.

A neutral taupe shade is a safe bet since you can go from chocolate to navy to white and black.  It is as safe bet as is gray, but neither are boring...most people think gray is only ok for the fall/winter seasons but the right shade can get you through the year!  Taupe or gray is an unexpected fresh twist especially if the material isn't a plain leather.

Please call or e-mail today to set up a complimentary consultation - it's never too late to establish a signature look for yourself!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Happy Shopping!

Talk of the Town and more!
clear

We just finished shooting two new fashion segments for Talk of the Town (News Channel 5 in Nashville)!  I will post air dates when I know them, but in the meantime I wanted to post the topics and see if any of you had questions - I love questions, and I will try to answer as many as I can right here!  Tune in to the show to see the entire segment that is chalked full of tips and tricks!

Building the Basics of a Great Wardrobe
This was the title of the first segment - I think you will be surprised at some of my wild card basics...Here is a hint - your foundations are the most important part of your ensemble!  (Lipo in a box is pictured to your left) - It's a fabulous line that you can buy from their website or from the QVC site!

The fact is most women haven't been properly fitted for a bra in years!  (And some of you never have! You know who you are!)  If you haven't been fitted, it's time - if done well, your clothes will fall more beautifully and the buttons on your white blouse (which is also a basic) just might start laying flat without any gaps.

The second segment is all about the best transitional pieces for fall - it's all about layering as we head into fall and winter...Summer dresses can last much longer than you think if you know how to layer them with your favorite cardigans, belts and boots!  Check back for show times and dates!

And always, don't forget that consultations are always complimentary!  Call today to set up a time.

Happy Shopping!
