MODA: Personal Note and Invite from the CEO
clear

Friends,

I hope this finds you doing wonderfully this holiday weekend! I want to preface this message by telling you that this is not a business email, but much more personal, and I feel, more important than any business knowledge I could share with you. This is an email to invite you to a Bible study…and if you are not in the Nashville or Middle Tennessee area, you may not want to continue reading.

Over the last 10 years I've seen an incredible change in how people do business in Nashville and the city continues to grow in every way. My husband and I have traveled quite a road together and while walking through an incredible trial of my own over the past 5+ years, I have had many of you ask from where does my strength to endure come from, or how do I live my faith so boldly and in a world that is growing intolerant toward my faith…this is an invite for you.

I would like to invite you to a new Bible study, one that will be Spirit lead, is biblically based and will give us all a place of encouragement and fellowship.  God has called all believers to share their faith every day, while at the same time we should be able to defend our faith and why we have a faith at all.  Our focus is on the believer and the seeker who wants help in being a witness at work, in the community, as a company leader, employee, customer and citizen of God's Kingdom.

Living Your Faith Monday through Sunday

We are a group of business professionals who meet for community, teaching, and discussion to learn how to be light and salt in the world that is growing more intolerant toward Christ followers. Learn to live your faith and be an influence in the workplace for the kingdom of God.

We will start our fellowship and study time on Wednesday, June 10th at 6:30am, and continue every other Wednesday from there. This is a mid-week encouragement. We have been given space and encouragement from The Peoples Church in Franklin and will have our meetings there. We will have coffee, juice and a snack to start our day on the right note!  We will fellowship, share experiences, and answer questions that we all have on sharing our faith at work and home.

I invite you to pray about this study and to invite anyone you would like to.

Please email me directly at mila@modaimageconsulting.com for more information and to let me know if you plan to attend our first meeting on June 10th so we can plan for all attendance!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Warmest,

Mila

MODA: There is no Elevator to Success
clear

Have you ever commented to someone about another person's success and heard the reply, It happened overnight for them.' One of the myths behind success stories is that we believe people, or even companies, become successes overnight when that could not be further from the truth. There is no elevator to success. True success is built one floor at a time and it takes work, lots of work. Then add in some planning and push all that together when opportunity comes along and you will have a success.

The actual success story began long ago when the planning was taking place, when the person was forming their Personal and Professional Brand. We have all heard the Garth Brooks stories of how he defined himself before the music made him famous. He knew who he was, what he was going to sing and just how he would sing it. Long nights, and a lot of no's eventually gave way to The Dance and a superstar was born. The actual birth took place years and years before the song broke the charts.

In my corporate seminars I am always asked about the success of my business and I tell them the foundation was formed years and years ago and it has been forged and tested through immense trials and testing. Building a great company or a killer career takes time, hard work and a desire to be excellent in all you do. The party boys and girls rarely make it past their party days when they realize they have created a Personal Brand that is killing their career today. The same is true for a business that lacks ethics or a company that seeks the easy road of compromise rather than the road less traveled. I enjoy the quote from Mark Cuban below taken from his interview in Entrepreneur Magazine, a man known for his Brand and hardnosed, but fun approach to success.

Entrepreneur: What's key to being successful as a technology entrepreneur?
Cuban: Busting your ass. It's not about money or connections -- it's the willingness to outwork and outlearn everyone when it comes to your business. And if it fails, you learn from what happened and do a better job next time.

As I say in my book, "it doesn't matter how many times you fail. You only have to be right once and then everyone can tell you that you are an overnight success."

You start one step, one floor at a time. You work harder, longer, smarter and you learn all you can and then after years and years, success finds its way to your door. Someone will say the same thing about you it happened overnight for them. They will assume you caught the elevator to success, but you will know that there is no such free ride.

So start now, build a great brand and invest in your future so that when that mythical elevator comes around, you can jump on board.

MODA can help you to build your Personal Brand. MODA can help your company to first discern, and then communicate a strong brand message. We can train your employees to communicate and breathe the Corporate Brand into all that they do. Let us do a brand review with you and take the next step in your own success. STOP THESE IMAGE MISTAKES NOW! (Bonus fashion video)
clear

1. Showing your undershirt underneath your button down (Especially when it is something other than white). This is a sloppy, distracting and unnecessary look. Clean lines are important. Solve the issue with a mild v-neck. If you have hair that shows - shave it and problem solved.

2. Wearing pants that puddle at your shoes. Pant length says I care or I don't care. Excellence is not a word anyone will associate with you if you are wearing puddling pants.

3. Using too much cologne (Especially in a professional setting). No explanation needed.

4. Shirts that make you look like you can fly (too much fabric around the arms and around your waist). Wear a fitted, slim, trim or athletic cut button down at least try one on).

5. Wearing clunky shoes with your slacks. Clean, long, professional lines create a polished look. Bulk on your shoes adds weight and creates an unnecessarily sloppy look.

1. Wearing slacks that do not fit. There is a pant for you, off the rack (potentially with some hemming that fits). Watch for the diaper effect around the rear end, too short with heels, too long and puddles, mismatched pockets (a slit pocket on one side and nothing on the other), and slacks with jean' style pockets are always a huge no-no.

2.  Visible Undergarments. VPL's, bra straps and the like. All bad, all unprofessional and sloppy looking.

3. You believe loose styles flatter and hide problem areas. This is a myth. Bigger in this case makes you look…BIGGER. Stop trying to cover things up with larger clothes. Your best bet is well-fitted and structured clothing for a slimmer look.

4. Facial hair. You have peach fuzz and are trying to put make-up on not a good combination. Details matter. If you don't want to go into a salon, try this…$10 from Walgreens.

5. Not wearing make-up is not ok. I don't want you to think it must be on 100% of the time, but lip gloss, mascara and under eye concealer take a few seconds to put on. If you don't have to look tired, then don't!

Overwhelmed? It's ok. The team at MODA is here to help and dedicated to helping you be the best you were created to be. Image is more than fashion or the right shoe, it is displaying who you are to the world around you and showing your unique gifts, talents and value. Don't let anyone underestimate you because of image mistakes that are easily solved. The warmer weather is here and it is the perfect time to let us take a look into your closet to see what is working and what is working against you.

Why we do what we do!
clear

Dear Mila,

It is with such gratitude that I prepare this letter to let you know that we were so honored to have you speak at our 2015 W.O.M.E.N.S. Power & Purpose Conference in Nashville Tennessee.

We are still receiving calls and emails weeks after this exciting event letting us know how you inspired our attendees to go for their dreams, push harder through adversity and how any women can have it all!

Your gift to speak to others from your heart is a rare combination with your talents in the image consulting and branding industry and we are so blessed to have you take the time out of your busy schedule to pay it forward to others.

Blessings for continued success!

April Consulo

CEO & Founder of W.O.M.E.N.
