You want to win? You want your company to win? You want your employees or teams to win? You want better communication? Better reputation? Better sales? You want people to know who you really are? You want to use your God given gifts and live with purpose? You want your company to CRUSH competition and build legacy?
YES? GOOD. BUILD YOUR BRAND. BRAND DRIVES EVERYTHING. It drives marketing, strategy, sales, communication, colors, website design, logo, how you hire people, your culture, brand stories, structure of teams and companies --- everything. Brand is your North Star. It shouldn't be a bunch of words in a manual or on a wall - it should be alive! In each speech, employee, email, greeting and report. Brand is alive.
Have a millennial issue? As in, you can't keep them? Red flag for you don't have a purpose, mission or vision or culture they want to be a part of...Give someone a purpose, get buy-in to that purpose - then you win.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND BRAND
Build your brand now. Not tomorrow. This era is going to pass you by - the ability to share your stories via social media will pass you by. (Side-note: If you are a corporation, small business, association, individual executive, school or company of any size and you are not crushing social media platforms - you're failing. You want to sell an idea? Sell an influencer? Be an influencer? Lead markets? Pass legislation? ...But you don't use social media; you're failing). The era to be first will pass you by. Build your leaders by building their brand. How do you know your 'why' as an individual and as a corporation? Why do you do what you do? Do you know? Does your market?
Are you in sales? Great! Stop focusing on selling and build your brand.
Are you in marketing? Great! Stop focusing on marketing and build brand - then use that as a filter to build marketing strategy. I often hear marketers building websites and picking fonts and I ask them what they are basing their decisions on? If I hear answers like - 'I just think it looks good." "This template looks professional." "I trust the website company." WRONG. Brand drives everything. If your marketer can't tell you your brand - they aren't a marketer.
Are you a team leader? SVP? VP? C-Suite? Congratulations! Are you consistently building your brand? If not, the young guns will pass you by. Do you lead with humility? Do you build others or gossip? What do other team members say about you? What does the company say about you? If you are a CEO/COO/CFO/HIRING MANAGER - fire those that kill your culture even if they are your top performer.
